How To Paint Chipped Wood Trim

Fill any cracks or holes from chipped wood as opposed to chipped paint with spackling paste or wood putty forcing the filler into the gap with a putty knife.

Hold the spray gun approximately 1 foot from the surface. Avoid sanding down all the way to bare wood. If you still have the original paint then youre in luck.

Holes filled with a heavy coat or several layers of paint may look good initially but the result wont last. Apply primer to trim covering any bare wood and spackled areas. Orbital rotating or belt sanders are a good option for stripping exterior paint.
